SAFER project is a good example of international collaboration
22 Sep 2021
We asked our partners to rate the experience to collaborate in SAFER or reflect the benefits that the project has brought to their organisation or region.
Interreg Atlantic Area funded SAFER project is coming to an end and we asked our partners to rate the experience to collaborate in SAFER or reflect the benefits that safer has brought to their organisation or region. This week we talked with Juliana Carvajal from Pôle Mer Bretagne Atlantique and this is what she says about to the SAFER project experience.

1- How do you rate the experience of having participated in the SAFER project?
It was a great experience, the work with all the stakeholders, the companies and the partners of the other regions was a pretty interesting experience.

2- What's the added value of cooperating with partners from other regions? How is your region benefiting from this cooperation?
The benefits from SAFER and the pilots are the cooperation between regions, the close relationship between partners help us to address the seafood industry challenges in a better way. Be aware of the situation in other regions and try to find synergies to tackle different situations are some of the SAFER plus values.

Also, the implementation of new technologies and the digitalisation of the seafood industries could help the companies to adapt to different challenges. SAFER encourage innovation and promote the adoption of new technologies which increase companies’ competitiveness.

In our case, one of the companies in Brittany could benefit from the expertise of a Portuguese company.

3- What impact and legacy do you think SAFER project will leave in your region?
SAFER is a quite good example of international collaboration in concrete actions. The catalogue could be enriched and develop new collaborations between regions. Some of the companies in our region could find a partner to develop new projects, propose a service/product or implement a new technology to improve their activity.

4- Looking to the future, what would you like to see for your organisation/region based on your experience in SAFER?
I would like to see more companies establishing international partnerships, working to tackle the environmental challenges of the seafood industry and new ways to collaborate between regions.
